Surf Crab Island

Crab Island - Doolin Crab Island features powerful right-hand reef waves that can reach double overhead in waist-high water. This spot catches more swell than others in the area, making it a prime location for experienced surfers. The bottom consists of sharp rocks, and the waves are characterized as hollow, fast, and ledgey. It works best at low and mid tide with a rising tide. Located near Doolin, access involves a 200-meter paddle from the car park, with a short walk to the entry point. The waves here are not for beginners; only experienced surfers should attempt to tackle the strong currents and challenging conditions. The spot is generally empty during the week, with only a few surfers on weekends. Surfers should be prepared for a workout and must be confident in their abilities to navigate the powerful waves and sharp reef.
