Surf Churches

Churches - Waiehu, Maui Churches features a point break with both left and right waves, characterized by a reef bottom comprising coral and sharp rocks. Located just south of Kahului, Churches is a local favorite, offering a more secluded vibe compared to busier beaches. Access involves a 15-30 minute walk after driving from Kahului along Waiehu Beach Road. While the area can be empty during the week, expect a few surfers on weekends. Be cautious of localism and potential hazards such as urchins, rips, and rocks. Always respect the locals and evaluate conditions before paddling out, as the spot can present challenging waves, especially during heavy swells.
