Chinamans - South Australia Chinamans is a left-point break with fast waves breaking over a sharp coral reef. The spot is accessible within a 5-minute walk from the parking area near Rhino's Tavern. Ideal conditions occur at mid to high tide with rising and falling tides, complemented by swell from the southwest and wind from the north or northwest. This popular surf spot is known for its challenging take-off and the potential for impressive barrels, making it a favorite among local surfers. While it can be ultra-crowded on weekends, weekdays may offer fewer surfers. However, be cautious of the dangers, including sharp rocks, localism, and the occasional shark. Observing the break before paddling out is advisable, especially when the swell is substantial, as wipeouts can be common.
