Surf Blowhole

Blowhole - Mount Maunganui, NZ Blowhole is a right-point break featuring a sandy bottom interspersed with rocks. The wave is fun and works best at mid tide with rising and falling tides. Optimal conditions occur with swells from the north and northeast, complemented by winds from the west, southwest, or south. Located at Mount Maunganui, this surf spot is renowned for its long, fast rights that can resemble Snapper Rocks when conditions are prime. Access is easy; park at the main beach and paddle out through the rip or jump off the rocks on Moturiki Island. While weekdays see fewer surfers, weekends can get crowded, especially in summer. Surfers should be cautious of rips and undertow, as well as the rocky areas. With a vibrant atmosphere, shops, cafes, and bars nearby, Blowhole offers not just great waves but also a lively surf culture.
