Surf Blinkklip Reef

Blinkklip Reef - False Bay Blinkklip Reef is a powerful reef break characterized by hollow, fast, and ledgey waves. It breaks both right and left over a sharp rocky bottom with sand. The spot works best on low to mid tide during falling tide with swells from the south, and is accessible primarily by boat or jetski, as public access is limited. This mystic surf spot, located near Kommetjie, is known for its steep take-offs and can produce waves up to 20 feet, although 10 feet is more common. The area is notorious for its strong currents and the presence of sharks, making it essential to surf with a group. The atmosphere can be intimidating, with the sound of waves and occasional explosions from the nearby AECI. While it remains largely empty during the week, caution is advised due to the dangers of rips, rocks, and pollution.
