Surf Berts Bar

Berts Bar - Sullivan's Island, South Carolina Berts Bar features a beach break with both right and left-hand waves, breaking over a sandy bottom. The waves are known for being hollow, fast, and powerful, providing a challenging experience, especially on big days. This spot is accessible within a 5-minute walk from the bar, but it can be flat 70% of the time. Located at the end of the south causeway on Sullivan's Island, Berts Bar has gained some notoriety for kiteboarding due to shifting sands affecting surf reliability. However, it can still catch swells from the northeast and east, particularly in autumn when conditions can improve. While the crowd is generally sparse during the week, weekends may see an influx of surfers, especially during summer and significant northeast swells. Be cautious of strong rips and localism, as the atmosphere can be intense when the waves are on.
