Description
Altitude: 1900-1930 meters. Medium-difficult level.
This site is rarely used and features a challenging launch area. However, there is an alternative launch point lower down. It serves as an important reference point for cross-country (XC) flights.
To reach the summit, take the cable car from Dallenwil to Wirzweli. From there, it's about a 20-minute walk to another cable car that takes you to Alp Egg. The Arvigrat is most easily accessed from the Engelberg Valley. From Stans, take the train to Dallenwil, then the Dallenwil-Wirzweli cable car. From the mountain station, it's a 15-minute walk to another cable car from Dürrenboden to Alp Egg. From there, it's a steep 45-minute hike to the ridge. This launch site is particularly suitable for flights heading west towards Brünig and Interlaken.
The Arvigrat offers significant altitude differences and various flying areas, making it an attractive spot for paragliders.
Be aware of potential strong rotors near Stanserhorn. The valley is filled with cable car lines, logging cables, and high-voltage power lines. Study the hazard map carefully and consult local pilots.
