Parapente Walker Merlin, OR

Walker Mountain, near the town of Merlin, USA, offers two main launch sites: one facing south and the other facing northwest. The site is rarely used but provides opportunities for thermal soaring and some cross-country flights. In the summer, north winds create excellent cross-country potential towards Jacksonville, Ashland, and the California border. During winter, south prefrontal winds are ideal for soaring. Access to the site is via road. The Josephine County Airport serves as an acceptable landing zone, and two schoolyards below can be used on a limited basis. However, there is only one official landing zone for Walker Mountain, and landing here requires SOAR membership and the presence of the current safety officer.
