Located in the Vlora region of Albania, this paragliding site is one of the most frequented in the country. It offers coastal thermal flying with some potential for cross-country (XC) flights. The site record is 11.6 km.
Flyable all year round, the best take-off hours are from 10:00 to 17:00 during May to September and from 10:00 to 16:00 during October to April. The optimal flying hours are between 12:00 and 15:00. The site is flyable with wind directions ranging from NNW to SSW, with the best wind directions being NW and W. The general wind direction is NW.
The takeoff area is grassy and perfectly inclined, accommodating up to four gliders at a time. The quality of the takeoff place is rated 4 out of 5, and the landing place is rated 3 out of 5. The flying characteristics include laminar wind and rarely turbulent conditions, making it suitable for soaring. This site is great for beginners, soaring, acro pilots, and tandem flights. However, caution is advised during landing, especially in the warm season when the beach may be crowded.
The site is located near Kanina, about a 20-minute drive from Vlora city. The landing area is at Palms Beach, down the hill. In nil wind, the flight takes about 15 minutes, but in good conditions, you can soar as long as you want, enjoying views of Vlora Bay, the city, and Sazan Island.
