Conditions Optimales
Description
At an elevation of 1448 meters, this site is regularly used and offers good potential for cross-country (XC) flights. It is also a popular takeoff point for competitions.
Flights are available in the following regions:
Vågå, Norway: The site record here is 97.2 km.
Salknappen, Norway: The site record here is 40.1 km.
Salknappen is a more east-facing launch compared to Vole. To reach Salknappen, continue driving up the road from Vole (before turning right to the Vole launch). The launch area is wide and free of obstacles, making it suitable for all skill levels. However, the gentle slope can pose a challenge in strong winds, especially with a westerly component. In such conditions, head well out into the valley and follow the riverbed below, or move to the right to take advantage of the ridge lift. Landing is not an issue, though it may require a longer walk afterward.
This site is an excellent starting point for both distance flying and local flights. Even a glide down to the National Center (Riksenteret) is quite long due to the approximately 1100 meters of altitude difference.
Landing is at the National Center. For a detailed description of the landing, refer to the Vole launch information. [Landing Description](http://no.flightlog.org/fl.html?l=2&a=22&country_id=160&start_id=44)
