Takeoff:
The takeoff area is of medium difficulty, depending on the conditions. Exercise caution with little or no wind, as there is very little room for error. The best conditions are a gentle breeze of 10 to 20 km/h and a NE wind. The wing inflates smoothly, and there is enough space for a check. With stronger winds, take care, as the rocky cliff makes it difficult to abort.
Landing:
The landing is straightforward, with an official landing field that is grassy and usually cut, providing a wide area. In the late afternoon, be cautious and watch the windsock, as the winds can turn catabatic (from the East) instead of the usual NNE. Beware of vines beside the road.
Comments:
The Orduña flight zone is one of the best in the region, offering both thermal and dynamic slopes. As one of the birthplaces of free flight, it is well-known among pilots. The Sierra Salvada provides an attractive geological formation, ideal for various air sports, including paragliding, hang gliding, and ultralight flying. The slope's NE orientation, coupled with its constant angle and wide valley free of obstacles, makes it perfect for these activities.

General Description:
Orduña is considered one of the cradles of free flight in the country. The area offers both ridge and thermal flying with an impressive takeoff. During spring and summer, you can expect mild thermal conditions until midday, after which the sea breeze (from nearly 50 km away) turns it into dynamic ridge soaring. Distance flights towards the west along the ridge to Tologorri and, in good conditions, near Villasana de Mena are possible.

Access to Takeoff:
Access is via the Orduña pass. At the end of the pass, take a right onto a stone track that passes through a forest. After exiting the forest, take another right onto a track leading to the takeoff. You can park here and walk up, or if you have a 4x4 vehicle, you can drive up to the takeoff.
Flight Considerations:
Be cautious of the venturi effect at the Orduña pass, especially when heading towards the viewpoint. The normal flight path follows the wide valley area. Points of interest include passing La Virgen and heading towards El Mirador. Always cross the pass well ahead to avoid the venturi effect.
Tologorri:
When conditions are favorable, it is possible to continue beyond La Virgen towards the west, reaching Tologorri. In exceptional cases, you can continue along the ridge towards Angulo or even the outskirts of Villasana de Mena.
