Description
Ulebergshamn is a local soaring site occasionally used by paragliders. It is situated between Bovallstrand and Hunnebostrand. To get there, drive south at the Ulebergshamn sign, turn right towards the coast when you reach the highest point, and then turn right again towards the quarry. Ask for Valöfjäll or the quarry for directions.
The site features a ridge (hang) type of launch with an elevation of 50 meters above sea level. The height difference is not specified, but the maximum flight altitude is 1370 meters. The launch area is a large plateau along the entire ridge, making it easy for back launches. However, start a bit lower to maintain a margin, as there is a cliff behind the launch area.
Landing is straightforward with a large meadow below the ridge. The ridge itself is approximately 400 meters wide, providing ample space for soaring, especially when the sea breeze comes in.
A Pilot 1 license is required to fly here, and the optimal wind direction is west. The site is known for good lift when conditions are right.
