Description
Located in Liguria, Italy, this paragliding site offers a unique experience for local soaring and small cross-country flights. The takeoff point is at an elevation of 475 meters above sea level, with landing zones at 100 meters (high) and 70 meters (low) above sea level. The elevation difference ranges between 375 and 405 meters, with an efficiency ratio of 1:3.
To reach the takeoff area from Toirano, take the provincial road n°35 towards Balestrino. After approximately 4 km, turn right onto a narrow road marked as Via Groa. Continue for another 2 km, with only the initial part being paved, leading directly to the takeoff. The takeoff area is spacious and straightforward, with both landing zones visible from there. In the absence of sufficient thermal activity, which is rare, dynamic soaring on the small wall to the left of the takeoff can be utilized.
Optimal conditions allow pilots to reach the summit of the nearby Monte Ravinet. It is crucial to avoid the valley to the west, which extends behind the takeoff, due to the risk of being in the lee side.
For the high landing zone, from Toirano's main road, take the narrow Via Garassini, pass the Madonnina, and continue for about 200 meters up a steep incline. The high landing zone is on the left side of the main road as you ascend.
To reach the low landing zone, continue on the main road past the town, park along the river before the junction to Boissano, and take the short path uphill from the road. Both landing zones are small and often have weak turbulence, making them unsuitable for inexperienced pilots. If conditions allow, top landing is simpler and safer.
