Be aware that the road leading to the launch may be locked 1.35 miles from the top, requiring a hike to reach the takeoff point. This site is rarely used and is known for its scenic flights and soaring opportunities. The launch is a cliff launch, so exercise caution. The glide to the landing zone (LZ) is straightforward, but it's crucial to maintain at least 500 feet of altitude from the launch to ensure a safe descent. To access Thompson Peak, start from Reno and take Highway 395 North to Janesville. From there, follow the Janesville Grade Road to the top and look for signs directing you to Thompson Peak.
