Conditions Optimales
Description
This site is known for its excellent local soaring conditions. It is considered one of the best spots for soaring in the area, located opposite Thurle Down.
To access the site, continue past the car park for Thurle and turn left down the farm track towards the farm. At the end of the track, turn right and park neatly by the barn. If you are the first to arrive, it is courteous to make a call at the farmhouse (SU 565 810). Do not walk directly across the field towards the slope; instead, follow the grass path enclosed between two fences to the left of the parking area. This path will lead you to a gate at the foot of the slope. Open the metal gate and close it securely (climb over if padlocked). Once through the gate, continue along for fifty yards and climb the hill. You can take off anywhere along the top, and bottom land only at the base of the hill. Avoid overflying the fence into the bottom field. Top landing is restricted, but slope landing is acceptable.
The site can be closed for shooting but is normally open from 1st February to 30th September. Please check with Bryan or Mike before setting off.
