Description
Located at an altitude of approximately 1730-1760 meters, the Grimmialp in Switzerland offers a delightful paragliding experience suitable for easy to medium skill levels. This site is particularly favored for its soaring and leisure flights, with numerous launch options available.
During the summer, you can reach the launch site with a 3-hour hike, although this is rarely done. In winter, a chairlift from Senggi is occasionally used. The region is known for its small ski area with a chairlift, which is also used for paragliding. A designated landing area is marked.
For more information, visit [Grimmialp Paragliding](http://thpe.ch/fluggebiete/grimmialp/index.html) or contact the local flight school at [Flybeo](http://www.flybeo.ch). You can also check the ski lift operations at [Grimmialp Ski Lifts](http://www.grimmialp.ch).
The primary landing site is at Grimmialp, situated at 1230 meters. It is of medium difficulty due to power lines near the natural ice rink. Avoid starting or landing on the ski slopes. Public transportation and the chairlift are available, but the chairlift operates only during the winter season.
Grimmialp is located at the end of the Diemtigtal valley, a popular spot among paragliders due to the affordable chairlift prices and the welcoming atmosphere. The launch site is a 5-minute walk above the mountain station. At the valley station, you will find restaurants with sunny terraces, perfect for relaxing.
One significant advantage of Grimmialp is its weather resilience. When other paragliding sites are grounded due to weather conditions, Grimmialp's wind-protected and fog-free valley often remains flyable. This makes it an excellent choice for those who prefer flying solo.
The landing area is situated next to the chairlift, uphill by a small barn. Note that it is uneven, and caution is required due to power lines near the natural ice rink. Landing fees are included in the ticket price. The chairlift operates only in winter and during the off-season; check the operating times at [Grimmialp Ski Lifts](http://www.skilifte-grimmialp.ch). There is also a campsite near the chairlift that remains open in winter.
Grimmialp is used by local flight schools for training. For more details, visit [Flybeo Flight School](http://www.flybeo.ch).
Summer operations run from June 1 to October 13, 2013, on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 16:00, weather permitting.
