Description
Spotorno Selletta Monte Mao is a paragliding site suitable for flights with winds coming from the South or Southwest. To reach the takeoff point, drive from Bergeggi or Torre del Mare and head north, avoiding the turn for the Bergeggi takeoff. After a few hundred meters, take a left at the next junction. When the dirt road begins, take the right path and follow it to the top. Park your car and walk the last 100 meters to the left of the road to reach the takeoff area. Ensure your helmet is fastened and perform a pre-flight check before enjoying your flight.

The site is occasionally used and offers soaring opportunities with the possibility of toplanding.
For paragliding and hang gliding, the Pineta takeoff is located at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level, facing South. The Lingea takeoff, facing Southeast, is at 150 meters above sea level. The efficiency ratios are 1:3 and 1:2, respectively.
To reach the higher Pineta takeoff on Monte Mao, drive from Spotorno to Torre del Mare, continue towards Bergeggi, and circle the mountain until you reach the dirt road leading to the quagliodromo. Although this takeoff is spacious and on a good grassy area, it is less frequently used because modern wings can easily gain altitude from the lower Lingea takeoff. To reach Lingea, drive from Spotorno via Antica Romana, near the Chicco bar. The steep road ends in a dirt clearing, from where you can walk a few dozen meters to the takeoff area. Recently improved with carpeting, this takeoff allows for two or three wings to launch simultaneously.
Pilots can soar in front of Monte Mao. On favorable days, it is possible to reach and fly over the island of Bergeggi (ensure you maintain sufficient altitude to return to the beach) or cross the hill of Torre del Mare to reach Bergeggi.
The beach landing area is very spacious, and toplanding is not particularly challenging at either takeoff point.
