Conditions Optimales
Description
Sesimbra, Portugal
This site is very popular and frequently visited by paragliders. It offers easy soaring conditions with some thermals over the village, making it an enjoyable experience. In the evening, you can land on the beach and perhaps enjoy a meal at one of the local seafood restaurants in town.
Sesimbra serves as a good alternative to Arrábida, especially for southwest wind directions, even when the wind is fairly strong. The typical day here involves relaxed afternoon and evening soaring for several hours.
The takeoff is located above the hotel on the left side of the beach in an unfinished urbanization. Be cautious of the new buildings and cranes, as they can be obstacles. Avoid flying behind the hotel for safety reasons. The landing zone is on the beach.
To reach the takeoff point, head to the left side of the city when facing the sea. Drive up the road and turn at the orange sign that says "Pista de Voo Livre."

If you're coming from Lisbon, it takes about 30 minutes by car. Take the A2 towards Setubal, then switch to the N378 towards Sesimbra and follow it straight through all roundabouts until you reach Sesimbra. Remember to bring some change for the toll on the return trip.
For W-NW winds, it's better to leave the N378 at a roundabout with signs for Meco/Bicas. Follow the road until you see a sign directing you to either Praja Meco (right) or Bicas (left). Bicas is preferable for NNW winds, while Meco is better for WNW winds.
