Description
The paragliding site at Rotenflue, located in the Rickenbach region of Switzerland, offers a medium difficulty level with an elevation ranging from 1520 to 1555 meters. This site is frequently used and is known for good cross-country flying potential. The area is accessible via a mountain cable car.
All launch sites are situated in grazing areas, so please be considerate, especially avoiding top landings during the summer months.
**Important Notices:**
- **Foehn Winds:** Rotenflue is in a Foehn wind area. Never fly during Foehn conditions.
- **Wildlife Protection Area:** The Grosse and Kleine Mythen are designated wildlife protection areas. From mid-April to mid-June, avoid flying over the dark red-marked areas. In the entire wildlife protection zone (marked in red), refrain from low-altitude flying during this period to protect young deer.

From the Rotenfluebahn mountain station, follow the path to Berggasthaus Rotenfluh. The launch site is a wide meadow above the restaurant. Be cautious of a cable to the left of the launch area.
**Flight Conditions:**
- **Launch Difficulty:** Medium
- **Elevation:** 1520 meters above sea level
- **Direction:** South, or South 2 with west wind (see photo). The gap between the trees is not very wide, making it challenging.
- **Flight:** Launching is almost always possible due to multiple directional options. It is relatively easy to fly to and above the Mythen, especially in the late afternoon and evening.
- **Wind Conditions:** The area is generally usable except during Bise winds. Be cautious of turbulence in strong winds at both launch sites.
**Walk and Fly:**
- **Starting Points:** Rickenbach or Ibergeregg
- **Route Description:** From Rickenbach, follow the signs via Holzegg to Rotenfluh, taking about 2 to 2.5 hours. Alternatively, take a Postauto to Ibergeregg and enjoy a scenic one-hour hike to the launch site on Rotenfluh.
**Soaring Conditions:**
- Soaring is possible in front of the Mythen.
**Additional Information:**
- The Rotenfluh cable car is currently closed, and the construction of a new cable car is uncertain.
