Description
The Rinderberg in Switzerland offers a versatile paragliding experience with launch sites facing west, northeast, and in summer, south. The main launch site is at 2000 meters, accessible via a gondola from Zweisimmen. The launch area is a steep meadow, and the site is primarily used for ridge soaring, though cross-country flights are possible.
Thermal connections are possible in spring, and flights typically land at the Zweisimmen airfield. However, be cautious not to lose altitude over the village due to glider activity. The airfield is busy in summer with glider operations, and permission to fly must be obtained by calling +41 33 722 25 77.
The main launch direction is northeast to east, but almost all wind directions are manageable except for southwest winds. The site is within the control zone of the Zweisimmen airfield, making prior permission essential.
Landing at the airfield is currently restricted, and exceptions can only be granted by the airfield manager. The gondola ride to the launch site takes you directly to the starting points, with a short 5-minute walk to the launch area.

The Rinderberg is best suited for experienced pilots due to the challenging conditions and the influence of valley winds. Small cross-country flights towards Gstaad are possible, but the thermal system can make launches tricky.
