Description
The Hahnenkamm launch site, located in the Tyrolean Oberland near Reutte, Austria, offers a unique paragliding experience. The launch area is situated on the western slopes of the mountain, featuring a 30-meter wide meadow with a stunning view of the Tannheimer Valley. Access to the launch site is via a hiking trail leading towards the summit. Upon reaching the ridge, you need to cross it and follow a narrow footpath. The launch site itself is moderately steep, and reliable west winds typically begin around 2 PM. Thermals can be found to the right (north) along a slope that extends to a transmitter at the summit of the Hahnenkamm.
Important: Avoid landing in the hamlet of Gaicht at the foot of the western slopes. Landing on the plateau may result in an encounter with a local authority.

Note: This Hahnenkamm is not to be confused with the famous Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel, known for its annual ski events.
The Reutte area may not be as picturesque as Tannheim, Pfronten, or Füssen, but the flying conditions at Hahnenkamm are noteworthy. The typical flight direction is towards the southeast and east, where thermals are generally stronger and cloud bases higher compared to other regions. This makes the site particularly suitable for cross-country flights. Additionally, the landing area offers a refreshment service, adding to the convenience of the site.
