Description
At an altitude of 1617 meters with a height difference of 960 meters, this site in Ruhpolding, Germany, is frequently used and offers good cross-country flying opportunities. The site record is an impressive 159.9 km.
The launch area is equipped with a ramp suitable for both hang gliders and paragliders. However, it is a challenging launch site for paragliders as there is no possibility to abort the takeoff. If the wind is coming from the west, it is crucial to observe the windsock due to the risk of rotor.
The site is thermally reliable and accessible via a cable car. Hang gliders do not need to be short-packed. The northern launch site is also suitable for paragliders. Near the Boider landing area, there is a practice slope close to the club hut. More information can be found at the Rauschbergbahn, the club hut, and on the club's website: [DCB Ruhpolding](http://www.dcb-ruhpolding.de/). A video of the Rauschberg can be viewed [here](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9-XcrhKQJM).
The terrain is beautiful and flyable in almost every direction. The Rauschberg cable car provides easy access to the summit, and short-packing is not required. Rigid wing transport is also possible. Guest pilots are warmly welcomed. The height difference is approximately 960 meters.
Due to the challenging terrain, a B-license is mandatory for paraglider pilots. It is advisable to consult local pilots for more information.
