Description
Located in Galtür, Austria, this paragliding site offers an elevation range of 2090-2170 meters with a height difference of 613 meters. The site is occasionally used for soaring and some cross-country flying. It is also a training ground, making it suitable for beginners.
Access to the launch site is via forest roads, and only authorized vehicles are permitted. The Silvretta Paragliding School has special permission for vehicle access and operates a shuttle service to the launch sites. Private vehicle access without permission is not allowed. For shuttle service, please contact the paragliding school.
The launch area, known as "Die Mutta," starts off relatively flat but becomes steeper. The surface is grassy, providing a smooth takeoff. The flying season runs from June to October.
The landing area is a large meadow, making it suitable for both paragliders and hang gliders. However, be mindful of the Föhn and valley wind systems, as well as potential north wind turbulence. While the launch and landing areas are generally trouble-free, flying too far into the Jamtal valley can complicate the return flight due to valley winds and cold air masses descending from the glaciers.
