Description
Located in the Piedmont region of Italy, the Monte Moro paragliding site offers a range of takeoff options between 2215 and 2780 meters. Accessible via cable car from the Staffa area or by hike & fly, the main takeoff point is situated to the left of the cable car station, near the 'da Bruno' restaurant.
The takeoff area is spacious with progressive slopes, making it suitable for beginners. However, it is only usable when snow-covered; in the summer, numerous rocks make it difficult to lay out the wing. The cable car operates from November to the end of April and from mid-June to mid-September. The ticket price is 13,500 lire, which includes a return trip if takeoff is not possible.
Flying conditions are generally favorable in winter until April, with opportunities for soaring and medium cross-country flights. However, flying is not recommended with moderate to strong winds from the North, Northwest, or West due to the risk of rotor formation and strong turbulence. In such conditions, it is safer to descend to the 2400-meter mark using the ski lift and take off from there.
Top landing at this site is technical and should be approached with caution. The cable car and other obstacles are visible and at a safe distance from the takeoff area.
