Conditions Optimales
Description
Monte Gabberi offers a breathtaking view over Versilia and the Tyrrhenian Sea, with surrounding mountains like Matanna, Pania della Croce, and Monte Prana enhancing the paragliding experience. The panoramic view of the sea combined with the striking peaks of the Apuan Alps creates a unique and stunning flight environment.
The launch site is at an altitude of 1108 meters above sea level, facing South-Southwest. The takeoff is moderately difficult and quite steep, with some large rocks that may pose challenges during inflation and launch. Be cautious of the plants at the end of the takeoff area; if you are not airborne after a few steps, it is better to abort and retry to avoid getting tangled in the vegetation. For those less experienced with reverse launches, a forward launch is recommended.
Wind conditions at the launch site are typically calm or weak, occasionally coming from the left (West-Northwest). It is best to take advantage of moments when the wind is directly in front for a smoother takeoff, as you will essentially be launching into a thermal.
Top landing is very technical with limited space, and it is generally not practiced due to the effort required to hike to the summit, which takes about 50 minutes from the village of Sant'Anna.
The terrain at the launch site consists of grass and rocks. For landing, you can arrange to land inside the Camaiore Stadium by speaking in advance with the stadium's caretaker. Parapendioversilia is not responsible for unauthorized landings. There are also other visible landing spots from the takeoff area.
