Paragliding Montagne du Mahury St Hilaire du Rorota

Located on Route des Plages in the commune of Rémire-Montjoly, about 10 km from Cayenne, this is the very first free-flying site in French Guiana. The site offers primarily dynamic flying. The takeoff point is at an altitude of 100 meters with dual orientations: NE and SE. In NE winds, reaching the NE ridge is straightforward. However, in SE winds, you need to gain some altitude above the takeoff to transition to the SE ridge, which can be tricky. Always check the wind orientation on the weather page. Once airborne, you can soar along a 4 to 5 km ridge that peaks at 200 meters, stretching between Fort Diamant and the nautical club. When the trade winds are favorable, you can enjoy hours of flying, with the possibility of landing back at the takeoff point. Landing is easy on a several-kilometer-long beach. Please note, this site is fragile. The club Exo7, which manages the site, has put in continuous efforts to make it available for free flying. Therefore, it is crucial to adhere to the following rules: Only pilots insured for Aerial Civil Liability are authorized to use this site. Schools, club-schools, and instructors must have a usage agreement with Exo7. Strictly follow the agreement with the DGAC, including: - Notify the Rochambeau Control Tower to open the PUL sector 30 minutes before takeoff by calling 0594 359 372, 0594 359 306, or 0594 28 04 07. - Adhere to the PUL sector, not exceeding 1000 ft (300 m) in altitude. - Respect local cultures and residences. Be cautious of winds exceeding 25 km/h. Note the absence of emergency landing fields (vache). Transitioning to the southern ridge can be challenging in SE winds.
