Description
Raimeux Grandval, located in Switzerland, is a popular site for cross-country paragliding. The site is situated at an altitude of 1237 meters and is known for its powerful thermals generated by the surrounding rocks. These conditions make it an excellent starting point for long-distance flights, especially when the wind is coming from the south to southwest.
The takeoff at Raimeux Grandval is technically challenging due to the lack of slope, limited width, and an exit barrier. Hang gliders can use a specially designed ramp created by Pierre, the club president. This ramp features a lifting mechanism that the pilot can activate with a lever, allowing for a smooth takeoff. After a few minutes, the ramp automatically lowers to facilitate paragliding takeoffs upstream.
Please note that the use of this site is strictly prohibited in September due to an agreement with local wildlife authorities.
