Description

Mont Ham offers a paragliding experience with an elevation of 688 meters and a height difference of 331 meters, suitable for intermediate pilots (P3). The main takeoff is a short cliff, regularly used for hike & fly, thermalling, and cross-country flights. Top landing is possible. The site features dynamic and thermal flights, with cross-country potential (HAGAR mandatory). The takeoff areas are oriented at 270° (W), 225° (SW), and 180° (S), and the site is active all year round. Rules: - Valid liability insurance (ACVL) is required. - Contact Développement du Mont Ham before flying. - Park in the Mont Ham Development car park. - Pay the access fee to use the path leading to the takeoffs. - Use only the designated takeoff areas to avoid fines. - Each pilot must sign a disclaimer covering the owner(s) in case of an accident. For more details, visit the Mont Ham Regional Park website: https://montham.ca/ Mont Ham is part of the Appalachian foothills, with an altitude of 713 meters and a height difference of 360 meters. Managed by the non-profit organization "Développement du Mont Ham," the mission is to promote local wildlife and flora and create new services and activities. The site features over 18 km of trails and numerous surrounding activities. The West takeoff can be reached with a 40-minute hike for a good walker carrying a paraglider. Location: 103, Route 257 West, J0B 3J0 Ham Sud (Qc) Directions: - From Sherbrooke: Head towards Stoke 216, continue on Rue Miquelon, Route Lapointe, Chemin Saint Camille, then take Chemin Gosford towards Saint Joseph de Ham Sud and turn left on Route 257 to the mountain base. - From Victoriaville: Take 161 towards Ham Nord, then Rang 5et6 to Saint Adrien, and take 257 towards Saint Joseph de Ham Sud. - From Thetford-Mines: Head towards Disraeli 112, then Weedon, and take 257 to the mountain. Paragliding Season: All year round, with restrictions in autumn due to high numbers of hikers. Takeoffs: - Southwest Takeoff: Best and most used, with a surface of rocks and protective netting, a height difference of 350 meters, and orientation from 210° to 290°. Access via a 40-minute hike from the Mont Ham Development parking area. General Information: - Emergency: Walter Godard 819 993-5001, 819 877-5903, or 911 at your expense. - Flight Information: Mehdi Anouari 819 575-0904. - Amenities: Drinks, sandwiches, local products, camping, barbecue, and numerous activities. - Maintenance: Développement du Mont Ham and volunteers. - Cost: $5.66 plus taxes per day, with an annual pass option.
