Description
The take-off site is situated at an elevation of 2040 meters with a height difference of approximately 1000 meters. The location offers diverse natural take-off points, with most pilots launching from here. While hang gliders predominantly use this site, paragliders can also take off from a slightly lower point, southwest of the main area.
The take-off window is oriented towards the southwest and is of medium difficulty. There is no cable car available to reach the site. The coordinates for the take-off point are 8.78672425, 46.8828749, and it takes about 5 minutes to reach on foot.
To get there, drive from Unterschächen on the Klausen Pass road to Urigen. About 50 meters after the hairpin turn, a mountain road requiring a permit branches off to the left. Permits can be obtained from Hotel Urigen and the farmhouse below the first hairpin turn. Follow this road to Alp Mettenen, then continue on the natural road to the high plateau. From there, it's a short walk to the take-off site, which is a steep alpine meadow.
