Paragliding Madrisa Schffürggli

This paragliding site, located in Klosters Dorf, Switzerland, offers a unique flying experience, primarily utilized during the winter months with access via a ski lift. During the summer, it transforms into a hike & fly destination, requiring a 30-50 minute hike to the launch sites at Geisshorn. To reach the takeoff point, take the double ski lift to the mountain station, then descend slightly westward. After launching, head left over the lift towards the thermal hotspot east of the gondola station (Madrisa) to gain altitude. The area is known for its scenic alpine landscape and offers technically easy flights. However, it is somewhat more challenging to access compared to other nearby areas like Gotschna. In the summer, expect a mandatory hike from the chairlift station to the launch sites. The Madrisa region caters to families with various attractions, including fun parks and sun terraces with views of Prättigau. From Klosters Dorf, the cable car takes you to Madrisa, where the summer hike begins. The launch site is a short, steep meadow. Ideal for soaring on south-facing slopes, the site also offers thermal flying opportunities, especially from late morning onwards in March. The high cloud base and good thermal potential make it suitable for cross-country flights, typically via Jakobshorn in various directions except southwest. In winter, flights from the Schaffüggli launch site head left/north towards the thermal hotspot above the forest north of the valley station. After gaining sufficient altitude, you can fly down Prättigau, keeping in mind the strong valley winds.
