From Klosters, take the train to Madrisa. From there, it's a 30-minute hike to the launch site, which is a steep meadow.
The Madrisa area offers numerous activities tailored to families, including fun parks with amusing obstacles and 'magic carpets,' as well as a sun terrace with views of the Prättigau valley.
From Klosters Dorf, the cable car takes you up to Madrisa. In summer, the hike begins from there. The launch altitude is accurate, and technically easy flights in a fascinating alpine landscape are possible.
Ideal soaring conditions can be found on the south-facing slopes. Thermals are also present, even in winter, and become more pronounced from late morning onwards from March. With good thermal potential and high cloud bases, cross-country flights are feasible in spring and summer, often via Jakobshorn in all directions except southwest.
In westerly wind conditions, which bring bad weather to the rest of northern and southern Switzerland, this area remains well-protected for a longer time.
Flight:
With suitable weather conditions, cross-country flights are quite feasible. You can fly over Silvretta into Montafon, or even reach the Inntal or Lower Engadine, or head over Davos - Flims into the Rhine Valley.
In winter, flights typically start from the Schaffüggli launch site, heading left/north towards the house thermal above the forest north of the valley station. Once you gain enough altitude, you can fly down the Prättigau valley, but be mindful of the strong valley wind.
Soaring Conditions:
Soaring is possible with a light south wind, but never attempt it during a Föhn wind!
