Description
Pian del Conte, located in Lizzano P.se - Spignana, offers a paragliding experience suitable for beginners. The takeoff area is sufficiently large, accommodating 3-4 gliders simultaneously. The site is known for its thermal and dynamic flights, with the potential for cross-country flying along the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, either south or north. The elevation difference is 500 meters.
To reach Pian del Conte, from Pistoia, take the state road 66 towards San Marcello P.se. From Bologna, head towards Porretta and continue in the direction of Pistoia. Four kilometers after Porretta, in Ponte alla Venturina, turn right towards Pracchia-San Marcello and continue for 20 kilometers until you reach San Marcello. From there, proceed towards Lima and take the Brennero state road towards Abetone. After one kilometer, turn right towards Lizzano Pistoiese.
The takeoff is at an altitude of 1250 meters above sea level, facing south/southwest, with no obstacles and low grass. Ideal wind direction for takeoff is south-west.
For landing, the same areas as Croce Arcana are used. There is an intermediate landing option in the school field below, 100 meters down. The site is ideal for first flights and offers easy top landing due to the absence of vegetation. However, caution is advised when landing with east winds, as they can create turbulence.
