Description
Located in the Gruyeres region of Switzerland, this paragliding site is frequently used by both hang gliders and paragliders. Some cross-country flying is possible here.
The site is situated on the right side of the road connecting Grandvillard to Estavanens. Drive slowly on the gravel road to reach the location.
**Take-offs:**
- **Lévanchy (1360 m)**: Suitable for paragliders with favorable winds from the West to Northwest. Accessible by a short walk.
- **La Chia (1500 m)**: Favorable winds from the West to Northwest. A 15-minute walk is required.
- **Les Merlas (1700 m)**: Favorable winds from the West to Northwest. A 45-minute walk is required.

To reach the launch site, drive from Grandvillard towards Bounavaux / Vanil Noir until the end of the road, or use the local flight school's bus service. From there, head northeast to the launch site, which is a steep alpine meadow. Afternoon and evening winds are usually excellent for soaring.
**Flight Conditions:**
The hills may seem modest, but they offer strong updrafts. Large launch areas are available, and it's best to take off after lunch. Be cautious if there's a strong Bise wind, as it can make launching difficult.
**Important Information:**
There is a nearby nature reserve, so maintaining sufficient ground clearance is essential. Please check with the local GS-Club for detailed information.
**Transport:**
No cable car is available, but there is a bus service on weekends and holidays from 12:00 to 17:00 every hour, and on weekdays at 17:30 (Cost: CHF 7.-).
**Thermal Conditions:**
Good thermal conditions typically start from 15:00.
