Description
Take off: The most frequently used launch site in the valley is La Guardia, located at coordinates 45:43.000N, 011:10.629E, with an altitude of 1130 meters facing south. To reach it, drive from Recoaro city center towards Campogrosso and stop at the restaurant La Guardia.
Landing: There are two main landing options. The first is along the road to La Guardia, past the village of Merendaore, in a field at coordinates 45.7161611N, 11.1982778E. If the grass is long, fold your wing on the street. The second option is down in the valley floor, in a field at coordinates 45:42.090N, 011:12.264E, under the bar Giorgetti. If the grass is high, land on the riverside or on the soccer field on the other side of the river.
Getting there: Recoaro Terme is approximately 1.5 hours by car from Venice, a little over an hour from Bassano, Verona, and roughly the same from Trento or Lake Garda. By train, travel to Vicenza and then take a bus for another hour to Recoaro.
Comments: This is a beautiful and uncrowded place to fly. It offers mountain thermal flying that is less challenging than in the larger Dolomites. There are great possibilities for cross-country flights in almost all directions, with a classic route to Bassano being 50 km.
Weather hazards: North wind can be dangerous and may prevent flying when strong. When light, it can create good flying conditions.

Tourism: The area is great for walking, climbing, mountain biking, skiing, and cross-country skiing in winter. It also features thermal waters (though not hot), and is pleasant in the summer with many festivals.
