Description
Located in the northern Spanish province of Guipuzcoa, Orio is a beginner-friendly paragliding site with an altitude of 355 meters and a height difference of 180 meters. The take-off is situated at the top of Kukuarri, facing north to northwest. This site is frequently used for coastal soaring, and some cross-country (XC) flights are possible. Top landing is also an option here.
The site record for distance is 71.4 km. The primary landing zone is in Orio, but landing in the garden and on the beach is prohibited during the summer season. An alternative landing zone is available on the other side of the river.
To get there, travel 15 km from San Sebastian. From Donosti, head towards the Igeldo campsite, follow the road until you reach a bar under some antennas, then continue towards Orio. After passing another restaurant, Orioko Benta, continue for about 500 meters until you reach a junction with a dirt track. Take this track up towards the antennas, passing a locked iron gate. The take-off is next to the Kukuarri cross.
Alternatively, from Orio beach, head towards the N634 without crossing the town. Before reaching the N634, take the road indicated towards Igeldo and follow it to the parking spot.
