Parapente Krupka

Krupka is a highly frequented paragliding site known for excellent cross-country (XC) flying opportunities. The take-off point is located at an altitude of 710 meters above sea level, with an elevation gain of 360 meters. The site is particularly popular due to its thermal activity, making it a prime spot for extended flights. The take-off area is well-maintained and covered with geotextile to prevent erosion. It is designed for one pilot at a time. The ideal wind direction for take-off is between 140° and 180°. However, be cautious of turbulence caused by the western ridge when the wind direction shifts to 190° southwest. In light northern winds, thermal take-offs are possible. Access to the take-off point involves a 1 km walk from the parking area near the cable car station. Although there is a fire access road close to the take-off, the forest manager restricts vehicle access, except for one or two designated cars. Be aware that all access roads have barriers, and unauthorized entry could result in being locked in, which can be costly. The current landing zone, located at coordinates N50°41.293' E13°53.387', is spacious and generally safe. However, construction of residential houses is planned to begin within the next three years, necessitating the search for an alternative landing site with the help of the local municipal office. Pilots flying in the Krupka area must have a valid flying license and liability insurance. They are also required to adhere to Czech flying regulations and maintain cleanliness at the take-off and landing sites. It is strictly forbidden to cut or trim trees and shrubs in these areas, and any unauthorized modifications to the take-off or landing zones are prohibited. Parking is available at the ski lift parking lot, which can be found when exiting Krupka towards Fojtovice, just before reaching the top of Komáří Víška hill.
