Description
The paragliding site in Wanfried/Aue, Germany, offers a take-off height of 500 meters and a height difference of 120 meters, making it suitable for easy to medium-level pilots. This location is frequently used and provides good cross-country (XC) flying opportunities.
The site is located on a southeast-facing slope along the former inner-German border strip, known for its thermal activity. From Kella, pilots can also embark on longer cross-country flights.
Please note that current guest flying regulations must be observed. Every guest pilot needs a club pilot as a sponsor. Without a sponsor, flying is not permitted. Pilots from cooperating clubs (Harsberg, Meißner, and Goslar) are exempt from the sponsorship requirement but cannot act as sponsors themselves. Access to the launch site is on foot only; driving to the site is not allowed (as of June 2020).
The site is managed by PC Werratal-Eschwege-Eichsfeld e.V. It is best suited for flying in east and south wind conditions from late March to mid-August. Soaring is possible during the winter months.
