The main take-off site is a small, challenging, and steep grassy area suitable for a maximum of two paragliders, surrounded by dwarf pines. The launch area is very short. Be cautious of north winds, as this site then lies in the lee. Always check the windsock on the small elevation to the north.
This flying area is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking settings in the Northern Alps. The flight over the fjord-like Königssee and the view of the massive Watzmann are spectacular. However, Berchtesgaden is also one of the most challenging and sensitive flying areas. Before you start, please read the current site descriptions and inform yourself about the site regulations at [Berchtesgadener Gleitschirmflieger](https://www.berchtesgadener-gleitschirmflieger.de/fluggebiet/) and [Berchtesgadener Drachenflieger](http://www.berchtesgadener-drachenflieger.de).
The main landing site for paragliders, located near the valley station, can be turbulent due to valley winds and thermals. Information about the site is available at the valley station or on the clubs' websites.
In Berchtesgaden, the Golden Eagle Project has been successfully practiced for years. An information board is located at the valley station.
