Description
Located in Meldal, Norway, this paragliding site offers a launch height of approximately 460 meters. It is regularly used for soaring and cross-country (XC) flights. The site record is 10.1 km.
To reach the launch site at Bergslia, head north from Meldal center. Drive straight past an unlocked gate and park at the second 180-degree turn. From there, follow a broad path through the spruce forest. After 5-10 minutes, cross a path and continue for a few more minutes until you meet another path. Follow this path to the left, then take the first path to the right, marked 'ungskog'. After a long turn partially through a small stream, take a path to the left, and you will reach the launch site after a few hundred meters.
The launch site is suitable for both paragliding (PG) and hang gliding (HG), but it can be challenging in strong winds as it is located in the lift zone and the wing may be somewhat sheltered. It is particularly exposed to wind and can be turbulent in strong southeast (SE) winds.
This site is known for its excellent thermals and is a great starting point for distance flying in all directions. It is one of the highest flying areas in central Norway.
Landing is available on a large field near the Coop store. There are also good landing options in other fields in the valley, but please be mindful of the growing season. Be aware of high-voltage power lines along the river.
A weather station is available at the launch site: [Weather Station](http://holfuy.hu/en/data.php?station=s199)
