Description
The launch site is located 100 meters below Skavlen Café at the top of the gondola in Hafjell Ski Center. The launch area is situated north of the gondola on a ski slope. It is suitable for all skill levels. Under no circumstances should you fly over the lifts. A wind meter is positioned approximately 70 meters to the left of the launch site.
Exercise caution in strong winds from the NW-N direction.
Landing takes place in the field next to Åssletten Pension at the bottom near the gondola. The landowner, Wedum, appreciates being asked for permission before landing in the field. In winter, there is a plowed road that is suitable for landing. The field is about 200 meters long, providing ample space. It is also possible to find thermals and land in other locations. This site serves as a good starting point with west-northwest winds at altitude for flying southward.
A typical glide lasts about 8 minutes with full trim in winter conditions with no wind. A lift pass is required. It is possible to purchase a cross-country ski pass for 50 NOK per trip.
