Conditions Optimales
Description
Elevation: 520 meters
Various takeoff possibilities ranging from 470 to 570 meters. This site is regularly used for flights to the beach or cross-country along the ridges parallel to the sea, extending to Adra and beyond. Optimal conditions are with very light east wind. A nice spot!
Region: Spain
Site record: 24.7 km
Meeting point: Guainos beach landing zone.
Directions: From Almeria, take the highway towards Malaga. Exit (384) after Adra, take the Guainos exit and drive down. Head towards Malaga. At the roundabout, go towards the beach (Guainos Baja). You can land directly on the beach, either before or after the riverbed (Rambla). There used to be a bar at the landing zone, but it has since closed. Follow the road, turn left onto the main road, and after 300 meters, turn right. After approximately 4 km, there is parking available in a left-hand curve.
From there, it's a 200-meter walk to the takeoff site. For south-west winds, it is recommended to start 50 meters higher. Note that the path requires some skill and good footwear. You can also start directly from the road with an east wind, but this is not recommended.
Orientation: East - South - West
Altitude difference: 600 meters
Two takeoff sites: 4 km above Guainos
Three landing sites: Directly on the beach or, if altitude is insufficient, there are several larger open areas before the highway.
