Description
This paragliding site in Switzerland offers occasional use for soaring and panoramic flights. The area is also suitable for speedflying, with a spectacular route past the Staubbachfall waterfall. The site is located approximately 70 meters above the Lauterbrunnen - Grütschalp mountain station. However, it can be tricky due to lee winds once the valley wind sets in.

To reach the launch site, take the cable car from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp. From there, it's a 150-meter walk uphill to the right, ending at the forest clearing. The launch area is relatively small with trees on the left. The wind usually comes thermally up the slope. After launching, you can gain thermal lift up to 300 meters along the forest to the left. The launch site is operational from May to November, during the summer season. Paragliding Jungfrau GmbH manages and maintains the site. It can be used for private purposes without charge, but commercial use requires prior consultation with Paragliding Jungfrau GmbH.
**Suitability:**
- Normal launch time: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Thermals start at 9:00 AM
- Ideal for morning flights
- After 1:00 PM, expect strong side turbulence, making it difficult to fly over the trees below the launch site.
For landing in Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg, registration at the heliport is mandatory. Contact Air Glacier Lauterbrunnen at 0338560560. This site is generally not ideal for long-distance flights.
