Conditions Optimales
Description
The Waldspitz launch site, located near Grindelwald in Switzerland, offers a medium-difficulty paragliding experience with an elevation of 1980 meters. This site is occasionally used and is suitable for cross-country (XC) flights, especially advantageous for evening flights.
To reach Waldspitz, take the Grindelwald Bus to the end station at the Waldspitz restaurant. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to the launch site, which is situated 100 meters above the restaurant. The launch area is spacious, free of stones and obstacles, but slightly uneven.
The site is popular for evening flights, although light downdrafts can occur. During the day, the area experiences strong thermals, making the wind conditions somewhat irregular. Thermals can be accessed directly above the restaurant. The launch site is also suitable for hang gliders (Delta) during the day.
Top landing is possible but challenging, requiring a hillside landing. The use of the site is free, and it is managed by the local club Jungfrau Tächi. If you plan to drive up privately, you will need a permit from the Grindelwald municipal police.
Normal flying hours are from 10:00 to 20:00, with thermals starting around 10:00. The site is generally flyable in all normal weather conditions, though side winds can occur. Stable summer weather offers the best conditions for beautiful evening flights.
