Description

The main takeoff point is at an elevation of 97 meters. It requires a 10-minute walk and is occasionally used. This is the standard launch area, suitable for soaring and also used as a training hill. Dynamic flight is possible here. The site is approximately a half-hour drive from Nouméa. The landing area is ideally placed for ground handling practice. This location is also perfect for picnicking, wild camping, and swimming on its long beach. To access the takeoff, you need to take a short 10-minute walk along the hillside. There are two takeoff points: the first one is at 100 meters on the ridge of the hill, and the second, less frequently used, is at the top at 200 meters. Landing is in the field below the takeoff, with a glide ratio of 1. To get there, take the expressway following Tontouta airport. About 10 km after leaving Nouméa, take the road on the left to Gadji. Continue for 5 km and then turn right onto the track. Drive another 5 km to reach the beach. The site is on your right. This is the main learning site, and the wind arrives later than in Nouméa. If you are too late to fly in Ouen Toro, you might still have a chance here. Be cautious of weather hazards: when white caps appear on the water, it's time to land.
