Parapente Flinders Golf Club

Flinders Golf Club is a regularly used paragliding site in Australia, known for its good coastal soaring conditions. The site features a ground ramp for takeoff and a beach landing area. The height of the launch is approximately 29 meters, with flight distances ranging from 500 to 1,600 meters. Advanced pilots can enjoy flights from the Bowl up the coast to Blow Hole Point, about 1.6 km away. During summer, buoyant air bubbles often lift from exposed rock areas on the beach, allowing pilots to float up to 700 feet above takeoff. A vario is recommended to take full advantage of these conditions. The site has specific rules to ensure safety and maintain access: - Maximum flight time of 30 minutes if other pilots are waiting to launch. - No aerobatics near the ramp. - No top landings. - No wraps on the golf course. - Use designated paths to walk up the cliff. - Avoid flying in front of the Naval gunnery, as the guns are still in use. - Do not use the launch next to the Naval gunnery due to security concerns. The Flinders area is versatile and popular for both paragliding and hang gliding. However, it is crucial to avoid flying when the wind is from the southwest due to turbulence.
