Description
The dune is 20-100 meters high and approximately 20 kilometers long. It's a dream to fly here, but the wind direction is rarely ideal. Optimal conditions often occur just before a weather front.
Take off beside Chiringuito Bananas near Camping Matalascañas. Launch from the hill along the shoreline, about 15 meters high, and fly westward. Avoid flying eastward due to numerous buildings and beachgoers. Flying west, you have 15 kilometers to Mazagón town, soaring over the shoreline if the wind is 15 to 30 km/h from the southwest. The entire shoreline from Matalascañas to Mazagón is a protected wildlife area.
Landing is easy on the beach, very close to the take-off point where you can park your car.
Do not fly with a paramotor here, only paragliders. Avoid disturbing beachgoers, especially in summer. During other seasons, the beach is less crowded.
Fly only over the shoreline. Flying eastward will place you inside Doñana National Park, a Restricted Flying Zone from ground level to 6000 feet.
