Paragliding Doherty Slide, OR

Doherty Slide Launch is a west-facing soaring site in the USA, known for its spectacular glassoffs. The launch is situated at approximately 6175 feet MSL (Mean Sea Level), with a height difference of 230 meters. This site is occasionally used for soaring, thermalling, and some cross-country (XC) flying. Top landing is recommended next to a gravel pile located about 140 meters southeast of the launch. The site record is 11.5 km, and the launch altitude is 5995 feet. The wind direction suitable for this site ranges from 260° to 300°. To reach Doherty Slide Launch, start from Lakeview and go 2½ miles north on Highway 395. Turn right onto Highway 140 and proceed east for approximately 60 miles until you reach Doherty Slide. The launch area is visible as the road climbs the ridge, and there is a marked turn-off at the top leading to the launch site. The launch itself is a cliff launch, custom-made by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
