Description
Located in the Sierra foothills of California, the paragliding site at Pilot Hill offers a modest elevation of 356 meters with a height difference of 60 meters. This site is regularly used and is ideal for walk-and-fly enthusiasts. It serves as a good training ground with local soaring opportunities and small thermals, but it is not suitable for cross-country flights.

Before flying at Cronan Ranch, it is essential to contact a local pilot for a site introduction. Although Cronan is not officially rated, it is recommended for P3/P4 pilots. The area is shared with cyclists, hikers, and horseback riders, so it is crucial to be respectful and alert at all times. If you encounter horseback riders, set your wing down and wait for them to pass to avoid spooking the horses. If you are already in the air, stay airborne if possible, and if you must land, do so far away from the riders.
Always prioritize avoiding spooking horses, even if it means landing further from the parking lot. Remember to pack out all your trash and consider picking up extra to help keep Cronan clean.
