Conditions Optimales
Description
Located in the Piemonte region of Italy, the Valle Vigezzo offers an exceptional paragliding experience. The valley's east-west orientation ensures generous thermal conditions, often even during winter, making it a year-round destination with the best flying conditions from late February to early April.
Access to the launch sites is straightforward, with cable cars and chairlifts available, especially during the ski and high summer seasons. The main takeoff point is at the top station of the gondola, with additional access points via the Piana di Vigezzo lift system. For the Faedo launch, a short 30-minute walk from the Alpe Blitz parking area is required.
The valley is known for its scenic beauty, nestled between the Lepontine Alps and offering stunning views of the Monte Rosa massif. The region is easily accessible via the A26 motorway to Gravellona Toce, followed by the SS33 road to Masera, and then a short drive to Valle Vigezzo. From Switzerland, you can reach it via Locarno, Losone, and the Centovalli road.
Pilots of all skill levels can enjoy flying here, although beginners are advised to fly in the morning or evening during spring when midday conditions can be strong. The valley provides excellent opportunities for cross-country flights, with numerous fields available for safe landings.

Avoid flying during strong northern winds and be cautious of the valley winds, which can be strong. The base altitude commonly reaches 3000 meters, providing ample opportunities for thermal soaring and cross-country flights.
