Conditions Optimales
Description
Butser Hill, part of the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park, offers a variety of bowls and faces suitable for paragliding. The site is accessible only to members of the Sky Surfing Club (SSC) or clubs with a Reciprocal Agreement with SSC. Visitors and guests are not allowed.
The hill provides good bottom landing options and can accommodate a range of wind directions, including West, North, North East, and South. However, due to its complex shape, it is not ideal for ridge lift or thermals. On a reasonable thermal day, the sea breeze can disrupt conditions by early afternoon.
To access Butser Hill, travel north on the A3(M) and turn off at the Clanfield signpost. Follow the National Trust signs to Butser Hill, passing Hog’s Lodge pub, and continue uphill to the pay car park. Be aware that the car park closes to incoming vehicles after 8:00 pm, and non-ticketed cars will be fined. Due to theft risks, do not leave valuables in your car.
Parking is only allowed in designated areas. The hilltop and slopes are often grazed by sheep, so dogs must be kept under control, and any mess must be cleaned up. The site is shared with walkers, kite fliers, and aeromodellers, so it is crucial to be considerate to avoid conflicts that could jeopardize the use of the site.
